Well hope it’s not The End Of Everything Plini-related actually, or I will cry. Good guy Plini you don’t want me to cry do you?
This short EP is the last chapter in Plini’s acclaimed instrumental trilogy. For those who don’t know him, Plini is a talented young guitarist and multi-instrumentalist from Sydney, Australia.
Coherently with his increasing popularity (by the way, the man has begun to play live shows and tour now) this latest EP is packed with extra talent, featuring Marco Minnemann (Joe Satriani, Steven Wilson, The Aristocrats) on drums, Simon Grove (The Helix Nebula) on bass, and Luke Martin on piano.
There are guest appearances by Chris Letchford (solo, Scale The Summit) for a guitar solo on “The End Of Everything”, Jakub Zytecki (solo, Bilo projects, Disperse) for a guitar solo on “Paper Moon” and Gary Holgate providing double bass on “Wombat Astronaut”.
As for his older works, Plini provides fresh, light-hearted arrangements and top notch production.
His Guthrie Govan-esque touch accompanies an impeccable phrasing, really mature for such a young musician in my humble opinion. Awesome grooves underneath it all, courtesy of Mr. Minnemann.
I can’t really choose a standout track, first since the work is short in length and second because I really love it in its entirety.
Call it proggy, jazzy, fusion-esque or whatever. At the end of the day, it’s just good music.
A very enjoyable instrumental work without any pretentiousness of showoffiness.
Please have a listen and support this talented emerging musician. Well done Plini!
