Metallica’s “Black Album” Turns 25

Metallica‘s self-titled album better known as “The Black Album” was released August 12, 1991, marking the band’s commercial success as well as departure from a pure thrash metal sound towards a more easy-listening approach, under the guide of producer Bob Rock. By February 2016, the album spent 363 weeks on the Billboard album chart, making it one of the ten longest running discs of all time. The Black Album is in fact still to this day one of the best-selling albums of all time.
